Sketch Dump! (Also new obsessions)

Hey barbs, looks like there are a lot of you in India lately... cool! Well here's a sketch dump in thanks for looking at my work. Also, for those who love How I Met Your Mother (Tv show), I recently watched 7 seasons in a week.... so I'm a bit obsessed. Look, it's Uncle Barney! Right now I love Walking Dead, so I drew a Zombie, and the Mermaid is just there because I started drawing a girl and I decided to be lazy and not draw her torso or anything below that.... also mermaids are cool.

Random Sketches

So one is of a lot of people on a bus and a part of the bus. I like buses barbs, they are large and great for listening to music while pondering things and staring out the window.
This next one is from my visit to a cemetery. Yet another thing that I love. I enjoy reading graves and deciphering what symbols on them mean. I enjoy walking for hours around really old graves because I find it nice to think about how these people lived and that one day someone my come across my grave and wonder what my life was like. I mean face it, we live and die, but the in between of life is such a roller coaster, someone has to care right? Well I care and while we as people don't matter that much in the grand scheme of things, it's nice to think about the lives of others because it grounds us in a weird sort of way. We are all the same and yet so different. Now I leave you with a creepy unfinished sketch.

FS#9 Media Exploration

LOOK BARBS A GUN! Actually I don't really like guns, they aren't safe and people rarely ever use them for good. That's all you here on the news though, guns and violence. So when drawing what I see as media exploration, guns is the first thing that comes to mind.

FS#8 My Space

Here we go barbs! Another Friday Sketch, titled My Space. My Space is defined by me feeling good in my own style and drowning out the world with my favorite tunes. I realize that there really aren't enough of you fans to give you a nickname, but hey it's all in good fun. I LOVE using my marker felt tips pens. As you can see I can totally fake water splatters as you can see. Well enjoy!

So my barbs, I'm doing a theme for photography. It's portraits of musical characters that I LOVE! I started by doing Eponine from Les Mis. Also, a quick shout out to all my German barbs! Danke! You barbs and the Russian barbs are some of my most favorite readers. Ok so now on with the pictures:

Up next is either Cats or Elphaba from Wicked.

Exciting News Part 2

Ok so as a budding graphic designer, I have learned the ultimate lesson. Sometimes your vision is different from the clients and ultimately it is the client who decides what goes. The Our Town poster is completely different now and while I wanted to go a different direction (more ominous), I'm happy with what the end design looks like. What do you think?

EXCITING NEWS!

Ok so I don't know how many people actually look at my blog, but I have some exciting news! I am working on some poster designs for a production of Our Town. I just made a rough draft and I think it looks pretty good. I'm trying to convey the dark themes of the play along with the importance of the moon and surroundings. Tell me what you think if you're out there and you have a helpful suggestion!

The Figure in Space (FS#4)

Well here's another serious one... DRUM ROLL PLEASE!! I drew this actually with myself in mind. Sometimes I like to be in my own little box when I feel blue and the world gets dark. Sometimes it is good to stop and think inside the box. ONLY sometimes though! Never stay inside the box for too long because it's what's outside that makes us special. I created this piece with watercolor and a ballpoint pen.

Confined Space (FS#3)

Naturally when I think of a confined area I instantly see a hole. Next I see a prison, but not just any prison... a prison of the mind. Sometimes you feel trapped by someone else's choices and actions. I drew this with pens, maker, and color pencil. Wow this post feels serious... well I guess it fits the drawing.

FS#2 Messiest

Ready for the mess? Well here is how I like to play with marks on a page! Give me water color, pens, markers, stickers, glue, paper, and a leaf and I will make a mess! The collage that I created this semester was next to a drawing I did last year and because it echoed the colors of my scissor people, I decided to marry the two. They are living happily together in my sketchbook in a drawer now.

Harnessing Chaos Coming Up

Here is how my Harnessing Chaos project so far... I'm actually pretty excited about this! So enjoy my angry face!

FS#1 (Second semester)

Here ya go kids! I know I haven't posted in a while, but be ready for post overload!! Here is Friday sketch #1 from the second semester. It is called the process. I drew it based on the process of two people's lives on a subway car. From being a teen to growing old, these two have what I see as a typical life.
